Ithink I’m going to skip Easter next year (not the resurrection part). I’m already not a fan of the “holidays.” Thanksgiving and Christmas tend to let me down and if I hear, “Jesus is the reason for the season” one more time I might sit down and cry. If Jesus is the reason for the season, why are you buying me a gift, why are you putting up a tree and decorating with Santa Claus?
Cold, rainy weather caused a last-minute change to the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s annual Easter Egg Hunt which moved from Fair Park to inside the Patterson Civic Center. The children enjoyed games, face painting, all kinds of snacks and, of course, pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Monday night’s city council meeting held a surprise for many because they agreed to classify downtown Rockdale as a slum and blighted area. But don’t worry. This has been done before and for a good cause.
Frills were aplenty on Thursday at the Senior Center’s Easter Parade Hat Contest. There were even a couple of men who got in on it. The basket prize was won by Angelina Lopez.
