WINNERS—On Saturday, February 19, several Rockdale High School Band members participated in the UIL Region 26/18 Band Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Smithville High School. Here are the results: Clarissa Herrera, Division 1 on a class 1 flute solo; Alvan Liu, Division 1 on a class 3 oboe solo; Abel Aguirre, Division 2 on a class 1 clarinet solo; Abigale Ammons, Division 2 on a class 3 clarinet solo; Jude Brackin, Division 2 on a class 3 alto saxophone solo; Jimena Rodriguez-Gamez, Division 1 on a class 3 alto saxophone solo; Alyssa Thompson, Division 1 on a class 1 tenor saxophone solo; Jason Ponnaiya, Division 2 on a class 3 French horn solo; Peyton Shuffield, Division 2 on a class 1 trombone solo; Andrew Hernandez, Division 1 on a class 3 trombone solo; Thomas Andrews, Division 1 on a class 2 snare drum solo; Abel Aguirre, Yovanney Delgadillo and Clarissa Herrera, Division 2 on class 1 Woodwind Trio. Director of Bands Adrian Acevedo said, “We are very proud of all the students who participated and represented Rockdale at the contest.”
