Adele Roseline Doss Menn Lumpkins
Adele Roseline Doss Menn Lumpkins, 99, peacefully departed this life on Feb. 1, 2024.
On Feb. 23, 1924, she became the firstborn child of Bailey Antonio and Sabina Pelzel Doss at their home in Milam County.
She was baptized and then later confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
Adele attended the Bushdale School in Milam County.
At the age of 16, she married Robert Lee (Sonny) Menn on Oct. 26, 1939.
As a loving mother, Adele provided a nurturing and compassionate home for her three children, Patsy, Ronny and Nanette, instilling in them the values of kindness, resilience, and love. Her role as a mother extended to that of a grandmother, where she delighted in the joy and laughter of her grandchildren, Travis Luke, Lance Menn, Andrea Wells McMurray, Cullen Menn and Parker Menn.
Great-grandchildren were Shannon Luke Riley, Savannah Luke Collier, Marli McMurray Boyle, Jake Menn, Meagan McMurray and Casen Menn, and great-great-grandchildren Robert Boyle, Cameron Collier, and Rose Boyle.
“Momma Menn,” as she was af fectionately called, leaves behind a legacy of love that will be carried on by generations to come.
Our Momma Menn lived her life to the fullest and always chose to see the good in others.
On Dec. 21, 1991, Adele married Otha Ray (Pete) Lumpkins. Together they celebrated all aspects of life, including family gatherings and playing slot machines during their many casino trips.
Adele loved dancing and collecting antiques.
Adele graciously welcomed visitors into her immaculately kept home.
She showed her love for her family through thoughtful gifts, great conversations and recognition of everyone’s strengths.
She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Hermann Sons Cameron Lodge.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Sonny and Pete; her daughter, Patsy; daughter-in-law Sharon Menn; and sister Betty Yoakum.
She is survived by her son, Ronny Menn, and daughter Nanette Wells (Rickey Wells); grandchildren Travis Luke (Elaine Harrington), Lance Menn (Sarah Menn), Andrea McMurray (Bradley Wills), Cullen Menn (Chelsea Menn), and Parker Menn; great-grandchildren Shannon Riley (Richard Riley), Savannah Collier (Shelby Collier), Marli Boyle (Christian Boyle), Jake Menn, Meagan McMurray and Casen Menn; and great-great-grandchildren Robert Boyle, Cameron Collier, and Rose Boyle.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Patrick K. Welton, officiant.
Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will follow interment during lunch at Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.
Adele went to be with the ones who loved her first. Do not feel sorry for us because we got to love her last.
