37 TESTED IN MILANO DURING COUNTYWIDE EVENT
There were 37 persons tested for COVID-19 during a countywide testing session Wednesday at the Milano Volunteer Fire Department.
Results are expected by this weekend.
County Judge Steve Young said, due to the testing, the number of Milam COVID-19 cases is expected to increase. There were 16 cases, one death and two hospitalized as of Thursday morning.
"We want to know, so we can get a better handle on where we are," he said.
In issuing a sweeping governmental order Monday, relaxing some restrictions, Gov. Greg Abbott said testing and results over the next two weeks will determine what direction the state will take in mid-May.
Thursday morning Milam County Commissioners were to meet in special session by teleconference to bring Milam's Shelter-In-Place order in line with the governor's announcement. The City of Rockdale has already done that.
