Dear editor, This year marks the tenth anniversary of Rockdale Earth Day. Through the years we have evolved and grown, w ith our Annual Day of Community Service being a foundational part of our mission to educate and serve the community on matters germane to the environment.
After Saturday night’s storm we went 22 hours without electricity. I don’t like cold weather, but Mom, Dad and I were thankful for it because it was cool inside the house.

Last week we spoke of resources available to Milam County Folks when it comes to our children. April is Child Abuse Awareness month and as such it’s important to discuss the existing resources to stop child abuse and to aid children in the foster care system. In last week’s article I also mentioned other resources, one of those was Place of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center in Rockdale. One of the ways we can work to help curb the occurrences of Child Abuse is to give our mothers and parents the best start we can and that’s what Place of Hope helps with.
Ilost my virginity last week in a way. For the first time ever, I ate at Tex Miller’s in Cameron. I have always heard of it, but I’d never been until last Thursday. People were surprised that I’d never eaten there.
