As one school year ends, the beginning of a new one is just a summer away. So preparation for the coming school year is already underway in some corners of the area.
Girl Scouts of Central Texas are celebrating the organization’s centennial, the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Girl Scout troop in the area in 1921. The Milam County Girl Scouts is performing various good works around Milam County. According to Rachel Owens, Milam County Girl Scouts Service Unit Director, scout members are going to do 100 acts of service in the county. Members are providing services for free to churches, organizations, cities, businesses or individuals. One of the deeds the scouts have performed so far this year was washing windows on the square in Cameron.
This recipe comes from my friend, Wilma Owens, and she mentioned that it would be a good thing to make with all these fresh veggies available. Wilma says she added zucchini, cilantro and V8 instead of tomato juice.
