ANOTHER MILAM DEATH, FOUR NEW CASES
From County Judge Steve Young Friday night:
I am sad to report another death in the county due to the virus. The Milam County resident had recently tested positive for the virus and died at home on Wednesday. This brings the Milam County death toll to six.
Today we have four new confirmed cases of the virus to report in the County. Two persons were discharged from our active list and two were discharged from a local hospital. Twelve people were tested in Buckholts today, but we do not yet have the test results. On Monday, we will test in Rockdale at the hospital from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
With the U.S. approaching 200,000 confirmed COVID-19 deaths and worldwide infections topping 30 million, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now recommending that all people who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should get tested, even if they aren't showing symptoms. Today’s recommendation reverses controversial guidance the agency issued at the end of August, which said that someone who was in close contact (within 6 feet) of an infected person for at least 15 minutes but doesn’t have symptoms does not "necessarily need a test."
Yesterday, Governor Abbott issued executive order 30 increasing capacity for most businesses to 75% and providing for rest home visits. The order is available at https://www.killeentexas.gov/DocumentCenter/View/2738/Governors-Executive-Order-GA-30. Most of the new orders go in effect at 12:01 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2020.
