Almost half Milam total from Cameron area
Milam County Judge Steve Young said there were 13 new COVID-19 cases reported Friday, bringing the total count to 230, and the active case count went down one to 58. There have now been 71 cases in the past seven days.
Milam County Health Department compiled a new graphic noting the Cameron area continues to lead the county in confirmed cases with Cameron's 76520 zip code recording 54 percent of the confirmed positives, Rockdale's 76567 zip code was 29 percent. That's 83 percent of the county cumulative total. All other areas of the county combine for 17 percent.
The Health Department noted more than half of all cases fall in the 20-49 age range. The birth-19 age range represents 10% with 70-99, making up 13%. The 50-69 age group makes up the remainder.
