County to start giving shots to 16-year-olds
The county will begin offering COVID-19 shots to school students 16 and older, Milam County Judge Steve Young said in his daily email.
Contact your school administration for a consent form and for dates and times of vaccinations.
“We thank our fine school superintendents for their help and support,” he said.
On Thursday, the county will run a small second-round Pfizer clinic at the Milam County Medical Department.
On Friday, there will be a 500-dose second-round Moderna clinic in Rockdale. Get your consent forms filled out and bring them to the clinic. They can be found at:

HOMEBOUND—The county is accepting vaccination requests for Milam County residents who are homebound.
Next week, the county plans to begin administering homebound shots with the Moderna drug.
This will mean two shots, but with the suspension of the Johnson &Johnson drug, the county will use Moderna.

TESTING—Monday seven individuals in Rockdale, with one positive result. So far, the county has tested 3,277 individuals with 975 positive infections which is a 29% positivity rate.
The county’s next testing will be in Rockdale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at 1700 Brazos St.
THE NUMBERS—COVID-19 cases this week have been measured Wednesday to Tuesday.
• Cumulative cases – 1,402, up 9 from 1,393.
• Active cases (PCR test) – 10 , up 2 from 8.
• Confirmed (antigen) cases – 1,081, up 4 from 1,077.
• Hospitalized – 3.
• Deaths – 46, no change.
