Milam County death toll from COVID-19 stands at 35
Two more Milam County residents have died from COVID-19 in Milam County. This brings the death toll to 35, since the pandemic started early last year. In addition, the active cases rose again Wednesday, to 175.
"This is four more than the record of 171 we set yesterday," Milam County Judge Steve Young said in his daily email.
There are 3,053 people on the county waiting list. More drugs are coming and eventually everyone in this county that signs up for a shot will get one. - Rockdale Wal-Mart: As of Friday the Rockdale Wal-Mart will begin administering the vaccine. Registration and consent forms may be completed on line.
- Veterans can call any VA hospital and schedule an appointment.

Bars and restaurants: Yesterday, the state announced that the occupancy rate for a business may increase from 50% to 75% immediately. In addition, bars in Milam County may reopen immediately. This is because the hospitalization rate has been under 15% for seven consecutive days, per Governor Abbott’s Executive Order 32.
Wednesday 27 individuals were tested in Milano with seven positive results. So far, 3,134 individuals have been tested with 936 positive infections which is a 30% positivity rate.
Friday's testing is in Cameron at the Cameron VFD from 8 a.m. to noon. Milam County residents with COVID symptoms can get a free antigen test.
