Three more COVID deaths overnight
From Milam County Judge Steve Young, "I regret to inform of three additional COVID related deaths today. This makes four Milam County residents that we report in a single week who died from COVID. I am truly sorry for these losses and our condolences to the involved families. These were all good people."
Milam County now has 22 residents who are hospitalized and 11 of those are on ventilators. We have 227 active confirmed cases in Milam County.
"These are very high numbers, but most of this is preventable. All but one person who has died were unvaccinated. One person was fully vaccinated, but it appears the person contracted the virus between the first and second shot," Young said. "There is hope. Our vaccination rate is increasing and we are one of two counties in our service area that has a vaccination rate in excess of 40%. The more that get vaccinated, the safer we all are."
