Milam County 4-H members made a bit of history Oct. 3 when they won at the first United Livestock Show at the Heart O’ Texas Fairgrounds in Waco. Mason Leifeste got the grand champion Continental Heifer honor with his Charolais and Stiles Patin took the reserve championship Continental Heifer with his other registered breed. On Oct. 4 the competition mirrored that of the day before with Leifeste taking the supreme champion title and reserve supreme champion title going to Patin. The winners are shown with Whitney Grantham, left, who is a member of the Heart O’ Texas Heifer Committee; reserve champ Patin, with the Thorndale 4-H; grand champ Leifeste with the Cameron 4-H; and Floyd Ingram, who is a county extension agent and Heart of Texas livestock show superintendent.

Milam County 4-H banquet coming up

The Milam County 4-H Awards Banquet is held each year to honor those 4-H members who have excelled in their specific field(s) of interest throughout the year. These young men and women work hard to achieve various levels of accomplishment at the county, district, state and national levels.
