The Minerva Community Center will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. Some of the agenda topics will include building upkeep, building use and rental, the Minerva Homecoming and the election of a new trustee.
Meadowbrook Baptist will host their Hospitality Day from 8 a.m. to 12-noon Saturday in the fellowship hall.
Rockdale Earth Day is holding a fall clean-up day on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a free movie, Monkey Kingdom, following at The Kay.
“Ever heard the African proverb, ‘It takes a village to raise a child?’ It still rings true today—and in this spirit, community leaders are working to bring an advocacy nonprofit here that would support and serve Milam County’s most vulnerable children,” said Mike Wilson. Wilson is a Rockdalian and concerned citizen who wants to help foster kids. Local community members are hosting a community meeting in the hope of establishing a Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program to serve children in foster care in Milam County. The meeting is open to all county residents and will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Kay Theater.
