The 2022 severe weather season is not too far away, and the National Weather Service and local public safety officials want you to be ready. The National Weather Service will be conducting a free severe weather training class for Milam County on Wednesday Jan. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department building.
The Rotary Club’s Casino Night will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, at The Ranch at 6 p.m.. This event will raise money for local scholarships, intermediate school character building curriculum, leadership camp for local teens and Christmas for Senior Citizens to name a few.
A benefit for the Charles and Rose Starr family will be held at Brookshire Brothers starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, to help pay medical bills.
From Kevin Starr, Charles’ brother, “As many of you probably already know my brother, Charles Starr, has had multiple surgeries on his right foot with the last one being Dec. 6 following complications from diabetes. Charles and Rose’s group of friends and family are doing a benefit to help them with medical bills and cost of living expenses while he is not able to work during recovery. It is unclear when he will be able to go back to work in any form whether it be light duty or fully back to work. We are praying short term, but he also needs to heal completely so that this is behind him.”
Lunch is a welcome respite in the middle of the day. Lunch is coveted because it provides a break from work and a chance to sit down and refuel the body until dinnertime.
