Every Wednesday in February, a team of Bosque, Leon, and Johnson county extension agents will present the “Health Literacy for Older Adults” program.

Area churches distributed food in Rockdale along US 79 on Thursday that businessman Drayton McLane, formerly of Milam County, donated Wednesday. Volunteers from Meadowbrook Baptist Church and St. John’s United Methodist Church joined to hand out free food boxes that were filled with tuna salad, noodles, beans, snacks, canned fruit, pasta sauce and rice. Rising Star volunteers also participated in the food delivery program in another area in Rockdale. McLane donated 300 boxes for distribution in Milam County with 150 of the boxes going to Rockdale. The two churches gave out 50 boxes in the Thursday deliveries and Rising Star gave out several more.
On Saturday at a temporary clinic in Rockdale 15 volunteers came together to vaccinate 226 Milam County residents for the COVID-19 virus. Ten nurses and others came out on a Saturday at the former Rockdale Clinic to receive the vaccinations. These were done in a safe and orderly manner in only five hours.
Juan Estrada always knew his life was meant to be lived beyond the boundaries of Rockdale where he grew up and attended high school.
