Spitzenberger

GIDDINGS—Eugene Henry “Spitz” Spitzenberger, 90, of Giddings died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, while having dinner with his daughter and a friend.

To celebrate his life, a visitation and prayer service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Mr. Spitzenberger was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Sandtown to Henry Emil and Dora Esther (Hannes) Spitzenberger.

While in Germany during World War II, he met Herma Anne Bonnke and they were united in marriage on Nov. 18, 1947.

Mr. Spitzenberger was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dora Spitzenberger; two grandchildren, Kevin Eugene Moore and La Shelle Lynne Witte; and a son-in-law, Royce Witte.

Survivors are his wife, Her-ma Anne Spitzenberger; four children, Dorothy Ann Falke and husband Charles, Karen Jo Bassett and husband Larry, Rose Marie Witte, Larry Spitzenberger and wife Judy; and a brother, Glen Spitzenberger and wife Marie; also, 13 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
