Funeral services for Thelma Hill, 86, of Rockdale were held Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rock-dale. Burial followed at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Pastor Terry Kennedy officiated.
Ms. Hill died Friday, Oct. 5, in Rockdale.
She was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Boykins, Virginia, to William and Lottie Francis Vick.
She was a graduate of Boykins High School.
Ms. Hill was a member of Boykins United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Franklin, Virginia, Chapter 128.
She lived in Rockdale for the past 40 years.
Ms. Hill was a homemaker and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and caregiver for 30 years in various nursing homes and private homes. She was also a Rock-dale Walmart door greeter for 15 years until her retirement in 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Juanita Vick; a brother, Franklin Vick; and a lifelong friend, Mary Galbreath.
Survivor are a daughter, Sylvia Ortiz and husband Oscar of Rockdale; three sons, Valen Hill Jr. and wife Debbie of Shattuck, Oklahoma, Lewis Hill and wife Cheryl, Eddie Hill and wife Dorris, all of Rockdale; a brother, Bill Vick of Virginia; a sister, Mary Bryant of Virginia; and six grandchildren, Valorie Purgason and husband Bryan, Valen Hill III and wife Nicky, Amber Jacobs and husband Brad, all of Oklahoma, Steven Ortiz, Emily Hill, and Trey Hill, all of Rockdale; also, six great-grandchildren and a life-long friend, Reba Ferguson of Rockdale.
Pallbearers were Ricky Ortiz, Trey Hill, Steven Ortiz, John Ortiz, Valen Hill and Michael Skrhak.
