Funeral services for Sandra Kay Smith, 71 of Lexington were held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Alvin Epperson officiating. Cremation followed the services.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Little River Hospital in Rockdale.

She was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Austin to Franklin John and Clara Dell (Kirk) Fritsche.

She was a 1965 graduate of McCallum High School in Austin.

On Feb. 19, 1972, she married Robert Leon Smith in Austin.

Mrs. Smith was a flight attendant for 25 years with Southwest Airlines from 1993 until her retirement in 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Robert Leon Smith of Lexington; a son, Christopher Smith and wife Kristen of Schertz; her godchildren, Beth Ann Domel and husband Mark of Austin, Michael Apperley and wife Amanda, all of Austin; three daughters, La Dawn Daniel and husband Tony of Sweet-water, Donna Menard and husband Steve of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Genie Vincent and husband Doug Gaidry of New Braunfels; and eight grandchildren, Piper Leigh Smith, Madison Michelle Smith, Braeden James Noe Smith, Kyla Daniel, Kendall Daniel, Victoria Menard, Katrina Giadry and Angel Gaidry.
