Young

Jerry W. Young, 69, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, in Athens.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Rockdale.

Mr. Young grew up in the Gay Hill community outside of Rock-dale and attended Rockdale schools, graduating in the class of 1968.

He was employed by TXU Energy and Calpine Energy.

Mr. Young enjoyed football and played for the Rockdale Tigers. He was also an avid Texas Longhorns fan.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Bessie Young; a brother, Wallace Young; and a sister, Dollie (Barbara) Kastner and her husband, Joe Kastner.

Survivors are his wife, Linda (Hurta) Young, and her daughter, Stephanie Esmond; and a brother, Ollie Young and wife Sandra of Fairfield; also, nieces and a nephew, and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.
