Bennett

William Clark “Rusty” Bennett, 71, of Rockdale died Dec. 29, 2018.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Rockdale (Praesel Addition) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019.

Mr. Bennett was born in Louisiana in 1947 to Willie P. and Eula B. (Thompson) Bennett on March 4, his mothers birthday.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam war where he served in Cam Rahn Bay.

Mr. Bennett worked as a carpet layer and in the oilfields.

He enjoyed fishing the Brazos River, where he had a cabin for many years, and tending to his garden.

Mr. Bennett was a longtime resident of the Praesel Addition.

He was preceded in death by his father on June 15, 2015, and his mother on May 16, 2018.

Survivors are his wife, Debbie (Rodgers) Bennett of Rock-dale; a daughter, Amy Byrd Fine and husband Rick of Austin; two sons, Billy Clark Bennett and wife LouAnn of Gause, Don Randall “Donnie” Bennett of Rock-dale; three sisters, Patsy von Gonten and husband Stanley of Rockdale, Becky Shuffield and husband Larry of Temple, and KK Hendrix and husband Joe of Rockdale; also, 11 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
