Phillips

Herbert Irving Phillips, 90, of Gause died Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Renaissance Villa in Rockdale.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Gause Cemetery in Gause with Rev. Jimmy Sanders officiating.

Visitation is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Phillips was born June 11, 1928, in Summerdale, Alabama, to Leah Estelle (Gullage) and Ward Van Phillips Sr.

He worked as the chief engineer on a dredge boat.

He married Norma Louise Jones.

Mr. Phillips was a member of Gause Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Louise Phillips on Nov. 7, 1998; his parents; a brother, Ward Van Phillips Jr.; and a sister, Lola Walters.

Surviving are two sons, Glynn Phillips and wife Rita of Rockdale, Herbert Van Phillips and wife Wanda of Milano; and six grandchildren, Daniel Phillips, Danielle Ramos and husband Tony, Denton Phillips, Chris Phillips and wife Bell, Brandy Phillips, Megan Turner and husband Erick; also, 14 great-grandchildren.
