Willard

Graveside services for Clayton Willard, 91, of Rock-dale will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2019, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rock-dale with Pastor Stephen Ammons of Meadowbrook Baptist Church officiating. There is no visitation scheduled.

Mr. Willard died Saturday, April 20, at Winnie L Nursing Home in Cameron.

He was born Sept. 6, 1927, and raised in the Black Jack community in Burleson County to Clarence and Angie Lou (Hamby) Willard.

He graduated in 1945 from Rockdale High School.

Mr. Willard then served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Nov. 16, 1951, he married Dorothy Nell Alexander in Cameron.

Mr. Willard worked for 37 years with Alcoa in Rockdale, starting in the potrooms, and retired March 1, 1991, from the custodial department.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, tending to his cows and was an avid Texas Longhorn fan.

Mr. Willard was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Nell Willard on March 26, 2009; a sister, Nadine Dornhoefer on Aug. 18, 2009; a brother, Glenn Willard on Dec. 10, 2010; his parents; and a son-in-law, Boyd Lee Cowen on Jan. 31, 2006.

Survivors are a daughter, Shelia Cowen; a grandson, Jerod Swift; and a brother, Dennis R. Willard and wife Jeannie.
