James “Jerry” Kocian

Funeral mass for Jerome James “Jerry” Kocian, 80, of Rockdale was held Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with Rev. Pedro Castillo and Deacon Gus Coelho. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rock-dale.

Rosary was recited Tuesday, April 30, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Kocian died Saturday, April 27, at Winnie L Nursing Center in Cameron.

He was born March 2, 1939, in Waco to Jerry V. and Bertha (Broz) Kocian.

On Sept. 4, 1965, he married Gloria Carolyn Barnett in Bremond.

They moved from Hearne to Rockdale in 1966, when he started working as a pot-tender at Alcoa. He retired after 34 years on Jan. 1, 2000.

Mr. Kocian was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale.

He enjoyed gardening and playing the accordion and the acoustic guitar.

Mr. Kocian was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Lee Gonzales; three brothers, Adolph, Johnny and Victor Kocian; and a sister, Agnes Wilganowski.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Kocian of Rockdale; two sons, Ronald Kocian of Cameron, Randy Kocian and wife Blanca of Rockdale; a daughter, Angela Kocian of Rockdale; two brothers, Herman Kocian of Rockdale, Bill Kocian of Liberty; three sisters, Marie Bielamowicz of Bremond, Lily Rodriguez of Marlin and, Betty Jane Kocian of Bremond; and two grandchildren, Kandace Kocian of Waco, Christian Stoll of Taylor.

Pallbearers were Joel Threadgill, Tim Barnett, Larry Kocian, Mark Stoll, Christian Stoll and Blake Kroner.
