Suzanne Quick
Suzanne Quick died April 24, 2019, at her home near Thorndale, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
A celebration of life is being planned for a future date.
Ms. Quick was born Sept. 16, 1950, in Houston.
She was a world traveler, educator, wife and mother, a ranch woman, scout leader, artist, and a pillar of the southwest Milam community.
Ms. Quick worked as a librarian at Thorndale I.S.D. for 25 years.
During this period, she found time to further her own education and graduated from St. Edward’s University and ultimately received a master of library and information science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ms. Quick was preceded in death by her father, Charles B. Quick Jr.; her mother, Suzanne B. Quick; a nephew, Mark B. Quick Jr.; and a granddaughter, Molly Mae Rains.
Survivors are her husband of 39 years, Jerry D. Rains of Thorndale, and their two children, Daniel W. Rains of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and Camille B. Rains-Johnson of Queensland, Australia; two grandsons, Luke Rains and Arlo Johnson; three brothers, Charles, Mark and Gerald Quick; and a sister, Marilynn Wilson of Houston; also, a host of friends, colleagues and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that books be donated in her name to their local school or community library.
