James Shaw Newman,
Graveside services for James Shaw Newman, 74, of Lexington were held Monday, May 13, 2019, at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. Newman died Tuesday, May 7, at Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle.
He was born Feb. 25, 1945, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Clyde Edgar and Ruby Augusta (King) Newman.
On Jan. 30, 1965, he married Margaret Bricker at Knobbs Springs Baptist Church in Knobbs Springs.
Mr. Newman worked as an industrial electrician at TXU in Rockdale for 20 years, retiring in 2000. He then worked 10 years with Crocker Reclamation in Rockdale as safety director. He had also worked as a longshoreman, drove for Superior Dairy and Texaco Gas, worked at Lubrizol Chemical Co. and for Applied Materials.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Rockdale.
Mr. Newman was Dallas Cowboy and Texas Longhorn fan. He enjoyed his motorcycles, hunting, fishing, his ’56 Ford and he could handle a bull whip.
He served as a volunteer Fireman and EMT at Barbers Hill.
Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Edgar Lee, Billy Carl, Jackie LaRue and Clyde Edward Newman; and two sisters, Ruby Lorene Simpson and Ida Elizabeth Pharris.
Survivors are his wife, Leona Margaret Newman of Lexington; a daughter, Rhonda Sue Newman of Kyle; a son, James Craig Newman and fiancée Jeanette Flournoy of Kyle; five grandchildren, Garrett Cade Jackson and fiancée Julie Gautier-Downes, Aubrey Celeste Milligan and fiancée Adrian Rodriguez, Cameron Wyatt Milligan and wife Kayla, James Jackson Newman and Robert Andrew Newman; two step-grandchildren, Devin Flournoy and Lincoln Flournoy; and four great-grandchildren, Chloe Jackson, Emma Jackson, Lillian Jackson and Ayden Rodriguez.
Pallbearers were Cade Jackson, Cameron Milligan, Craig Newman, Jackson Newman, Andrew Newman and Bill Maul-din.
