Owens

A memorial service for Bueford Dale Owens, 89, will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cameron, 208 E. 22nd St., at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019.

Mr. Owens died Monday, July 15, at his home in Rockdale.

He was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Lee County to Morris and Jessie Jewel (Stewart) Owens.

Mr. Owens was a graduate of Milano High School.

On Aug. 26, 1950, he married Effie Ellen Gay in Caldwell. They have lived in Rock-dale since 1953 and were formerly of Houston.

Mr. Owens worked as a traveling mechanic with Southern Pacific Railroad until his retirement.

He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Mr. Owens was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Jay Owens; a daughter, Susanne Tillman; and two sisters, Louise Paschal and Juanita Stewart.

Survivors are his wife, Effie Owens of Rockdale; three daughters, Linda Brown and husband Melvin of International Falls, Minnesota, Gloria C. Daniel and husband Gerald of Hut-to, Shirley Yvonne Owens of Spring; a son, Bueford Dale Owens Jr. and wife Theo of Rockdale; and a sister, Iona Crimm of Cameron; also, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
