Kornegay

Curtis Dean Kornegay, 88, of Forth Worth died Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, in Forth Worth from Alzheimer’s.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Interment will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in the Forest Grove community.

Visitation is set for 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Kornegay was born Feb. 14, 1931, in Chriesman to Leonard Oliver and Rose Alice (Buffington) Kornegay.

He married Billie Jean McCoy on Aug. 14, 1953, in Caldwell.

Mr. Kornegay was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He earned a degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University in 1956.

He was an electronics engineering design specialist at General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) for 38 years.

Mr. Kornegay was a member of Arborlawn Methodist Church in Fort Worth.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, ranching, his cattle, astronomy and working in his garage. He was inventive at problem solving.

Survivors are his wife, Billie Kornegay of Fort Worth; a son, Eddy Kornegay of Austin; a daughter, Kathy Chruscielski and husband Ken of Fort Worth; his grandchildren, Curtis “Trey” Kornegay III, Rachel Chruscielski Lad-mer and husband Johnathan, Jessie Chruscielski and Daniel Chruscielski; and a sister, Linda Kornegay Hill of Caldwell; also, many cousins, friends and relatives and his cat, Phil.

Honorary pallbearers are Claude Spence, Rodney Spence, Howard Ryan, Terry Drummond and Jim Currey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Grove Christian Church, 8902 S. U.S. Hwy. 77, Rockdale, TX 76567 or to Chuck Silcox Animal Shelter, 4900 Martin, Fort Worth, TX 76119 or to a charity of choice.
