$108-MILLION ARBITRATION JUDGMENT IN LITTLE RIVER CASE

Blue Cross directed to pay sum to Texas Dept. of Insurance

An arbitrator has ruled in favor of Little River Health Care--a bankrupt health care provider which used to operate facilities in Rockdale and Cameron--in a long-standing Chapter 7 Bankruptcy action.

Harriett O'Neill of the American Arbitration Association directed Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas to pay $108,341,934 to the Texas Dept. of Insurance. She is a former Texas Supreme Court Justice.

Little River filed for arbitration on March 5, 2018. Later that year it closed its hospitals and clinics in Rockdale and Cameron.

Little River has now filed an Application for Confirmation. According to court documents, subject of the arbitration was which party--Little River or Blue Cross/Blue Shield--breached the various contracts between the parties regarding the provision of laboratory services.
