BODY FOUND IN ROCKDALE

    From Police Chief Jerrry Meadors on Thursday:

On this date at 1:52 pm, the Rockdale Police dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a male hanging from a tree in the 100 block of Laura Street, Rockdale. Rockdale Police Officers responded to the scene and found Alexis Piedra (23) of Rockdale, unresponsive from an apparent suicide. RPD Officers along with members of the Rockdale Vol. Fire Department and AMS-EMS Service made attempts to resuscitate Piedra but were unsuccessful. Milam County Justice of the Peace Precinct #2, Sam Berry, pronounced Piedra deceased on scene. The Rockdale Police investigation of the scene revealed no signs of foul play.
