COVID TOTAL INCLUDES JAIL INMATE, SHERIFF PERSONNEL

The ongoing COVID-19 numbers in Milam County now include a jail inmate and some jail personnel.
Sheriff Chris White announced Wednesday an inmate tested positive for the virus, as have three jail staff members and a patrol deputy. White said during routine monitoring during the week an inmate assigned to kitchen duty began to exhibit a low-grade fever. The inmate was immediately quarantined and tested. He said the inmate is showing "mild symptoms" and is not hospitalized.
White said there does not appear to be any related pattern of infection among those who tested positive and that he and his staff have been unable to determine how or when anyone became infected or in contact with an infected person. Based on the recent positive tests, White said additional measures and precautions will be taken to further control the further spread of the virus.
