COUNTY GETS TESTS, THORNDALE EVENT STILL ON FOR TUESDAY

First Rockdale tests Sept. 14, due to Labor Day Holiday

Milam County Judge Steve Young said Monday afternoon the county has received 200 "quick" COVID-19 tests, with 100 more due Tuesday and will test on-schedule in the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Earlier in the day it had been feared testing might have to be canceled, as the county did not receive test kits as anticipated on Friday. Young said suppliers blamed the delay on Hurricane Laura.

He also told The Reporter another 1,000 kits are on order and he anticipates testing will go ahead for the rest of the county on the original schedule as follows:

(Testing will continue at these locations each day listed below until further notice)

Wednesday—Milano, 8 am – Noon, Milano Fire Station, 305 E. US 79;  Gause, 12:30 pm – 3 pm, Gause Fire Station,110 E. Gause Blvd.

Thursday—Cameron, 8 am – 3 pm, Cameron Fire Station,  1505 N. Travis

Friday—Buckholts, 8 am – Noon, 111 W. Main St

Monday tests would have been scheduled for Rockdale, 8 a.m.  to 3 p.m., former Richards Memorial Hospital, but that's the Labor Day Holiday.

First Rockdale tests will be Monday, Sept. 14.

The tests are expected to deliver same-day results, unlike the previous tests which take a week or more to obtain results.

Quick tests are free and are for Milam County residents who have shown signs of COVID-19.
