James Daniel “Jim” Legg Sr., 77, of Rockdale, passed away Aug. 27, 2020.

J i m w a s born in Nov. 27, 1942, to Dan V. and Mary Ann Legg in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He graduated from Rockdale High School in 1961.

He went off to join the United States Air Force and was a Police Airman in the K-9 Unit. He served under Lyndon B. Johnson at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin. After getting out of the military,

After getting out of the military, he worked numerous jobs including University of Texas Police Officer, State of Texas Forest Service, sales director for a radio station in Waco, and the telecommunications industry, retiring from the State of Texas in 2008.

In 1999, Jim installed the telecommunication lines for Providence Taylor Funeral Home.

In his younger years you could find Jim playing golf, fishing and camping with his children and wife.

In 1972, Jim married the love of his life Wanda Black, the two blended their families together. They just celebrated the 48th wedding anniversary. The two of them enjoyed going to Rockport and fishing off the pier.

Jim looked forward to his family’s annual Christmas gatherings and camping trips, where he would enjoy beating his boys at poker and loving on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew, Dusty Legg.

Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda Legg; their children, Greg (Beth) Clark, Mark Clark, James D. (Allyson) Legg Jr., Michael R. (Leslie) Legg and Carol Riffe; 12 grandchildren, Michelle (Justin) Watts, Thomas (Miranda) Bartley, Ian Clark, Heather (Dustin) Clawson, Nicole (Gage) Olson, Justin (Jessica) Legg, Ryan (Sammi) Riffe, Cody Legg, Brittany Riffe, Matthew (Ashley) Riffe and Katilyn and Cameron Legg; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, David (Nancy) Legg, Dan (Susanne) Legg and Brenda (Ron) Martin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be limited to family only. The memorial ervice will be live streamed via Providence Funeral Home Facebook page on Friday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m.
