Lehmann
Elyne Amanda (Niemtschk) Lehmann, 97, of Thorndale died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with burial to follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, masks should be worn during the services.
The funeral service will also be live-streamed on the St. Paul Lutheran Church – Thorndale Facebook page.
Mrs. Lehmann was born Dec. 15, 1923, in Thorndale to Otto and Meta Niemtschk.
She married Otto B. Lehmann of Thorndale on Nov. 27, 1940, in her parents’ home.
Mrs. Lehmann was an active, lifetime member of St. Paul in Thorndale and at the time of her death was the oldest member of her church family. She had served as a Sunday School teacher, was an active member in the LWML and served as the chairman of the Bereavement Committee for over 15 years. She was also a leader in the monthly devotionals at the assisted living and nursing facilities in Taylor.
After her husband’s death, Mrs. Lehmann received her GED.
She enjoyed cooking, playing the piano, spending time with family, reading her Bible, quilting, baking, playing Scrabble, fishing, gardening, canning, an occasional beer and playing “42” dominoes and 31 (especially with her siblings).
Mrs. Lehmann was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Meta Niemtschk; her husband, Otto Lehmann; her siblings, Beate Lehman, Justin Niemtschk, Erwin Niemtschk, Doris Kiesling and Eldon Niemtschk; a son-in-law, Robert Fortune; and a granddaughter.
Survivors are her children, Artie (Damon) Doss of Elgin, Shirley Fortune of Bossier City, Louisiana, Larry (Andra) Lehmann and Jarvis Lehmann, all of Lake Limestone, Sandra Kendrick, Ronald (Pamela) Lehmann, Teresa (Brit) Ging, all of Thorndale, David Lehmann (Lynette Neesen) of Buena Vista, Colorado, Renee Crowder of Hutto; and siblings Irene Schroeder and Eugene Niemtschk; also, 26 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are grandsons Walt Doss, Bob Fortune Jr., Cory Lehmann, Benjamin Lehmann, Cling Beard, Jacob Lehmann, Jonathan Patschke, Andrew Lehmann and Garet Ging.
