Milam County COVID-19 death toll at 44
Today there are two more COVID-19 related deaths to report.
"One was a young man and one was an old man. This brings the COVID death toll to 44 Milam County residents. As you know, this killer has no friends and does not discriminate. It can kill any of us. We must be vigilant. We must do our part. We must wear a mask, keep our distance, wash our hands and, above all else, get vaccinated," Milam County Judge Steve Young said in his daily email.
Friday the county will run a 500-dose Moderna clinic in Rockdale. We still have a few slots open for this clinic. If you or someone you know has been waiting to get a shot, now is the time to get it. Call Amy Guillen at 254-654-4559 or email Amy at aguillen@milamcounty.net to get on the list for Friday.
Download the consent forms, complete it and bring it to the clinic. This will save about 20 minutes. If you bring a completed form to the clinic there is no need to arrive ahead of your scheduled time. The county is scheduling people to avoid a large crowd and the potential spread of the virus.

"I am happy to report that our waiting list is just about depleted. We have been saying we would get shots to those who wanted shots and that has been accomplished. However, we must do a lot more vaccinations to make a safe environment. If you want a shot, give us a call and we will get you vaccinated," Young said.
The county's next free testing will be in Rockdale on Monday. So far the county has tested 3,243 individuals with 957 positive infections which is a 29% positivity rate.
