Clinton Edwin Kent, 77, of Clifton passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 17, 2022.

A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at Church on the Hill, 2000 Old Brandon Road in Hillsboro. Burial was held later at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.

Clinton was born Sept. 6, 1944, to Clinton Arnold and Deeda Orie (Ray) Kent in Rockdale. His life was like an Eveready battery, no matter what came his way, he kept on going for Jesus. He loved his family, church,

He loved his family, church, friend, acquaintances and those incarcerated.

Clinton never met a stranger, loved unconditionally and had an encouraging word for those who were weary.

He will be missed tremendously but only for a very short while. He would tell us, “Run your race well, give your all for Jesus. Heaven is cheering you on. I am cheering you on.” It won’t be long, we will be together soon!

Clint (“Papa”) would spend endless hours skipping rocks with his grandkids at his fishing hole down by his house at Lake Whitney. Sometimes they would actually fish.

He loved hunting, fishing, and all kinds of sports.

His Bible was always open spending time with Jesus and preparing lessons for a leadership class at the Hughes Unit in Gatesville. He served the Lord over 35 years as a volunteer chaplain in local jails and area prisons.

Clint was known as a good man, especially by his kids and grandkids and as a steadfast man by his peers. He was a Godly man who knew how to walk under authority.

A member and elder of the Church on the Hill, Hillsboro, Clint was leader of the Gate Keepers, a home group of the church, a volunteer chaplain and served as an advisor to the Hillsboro/Whitney Aglow chapter.

He retired from TU Electric after 25 years, then owned and operated Trinity Home and Lawn Care, retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and worked for the Clifton Record until his health declined.

Brother Clint did not have the word “retire” in his vocabulary! He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He had a praying heart for his country and for the men and women in uniform.

Clinton was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Dalton) Kent; his daughter, Jennifer Hylton and her husband Doug; his “bonus” daughters, Cassie Arthur and husband Troy, and Carrie Summerhill; his “bonus” son, Joshua Gordon and wife Jillian; 14 grandchildren, Ashleigh, Ethan, Sarah, Bethany and her husband Stetson, Hannah, Mason, Eva, Luke, Jack, Noah, Emma, Ella, and Abbott; four great-grandchildren, Weston, Madison, Jaxton and Lynnley; his sisters, Carol Matthews and husband Bill, and Janie Davis and husband Larry; and many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews.

Words cannot fully express the gratefulness in the family’s hearts to the Elara Caring Hospice Team and the Church on the Hill family.
