Bernardus Jacobus Willem Berg, 72, of Lexington passed away at home on Sunday, June 26, 2022. He was known as “Ben” by family and friends and often as “Mr. Ben” or “Wooden Shoes.”
A private family gathering will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022.

Active in the community, Ben attended school board meetings, 4-H activities and was the first president of the Lee County Wildlife Association.
His beloved parents, Jacobus and Janny Berg de Koster, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Carolyn Shirley; her daughter, Amy and husband Keith Drosche, and their two kids, Kate and Luke; their son, Nathan and wife Amy Shirlbeg and their three kids, Cody, Carson, and Courtney; their daughter Leslie and husband Shawn Allman and their son Ryker.
