Valdez

Jennifer Maria Valdez died unexpectedly at her home in Rockdale on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022.

Ms. Valdez was born June 30, 1977, in Lamesa to her parents, Jesus Valdez Sr. and mother Refugia Torres.

She returned to school and earned her GED in early 2000. She became a CNA and was a caretaker for three years at the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

Af ter the bir th of her youngest daughter in 2008, Ms. Valdez became an Avon consultant and continued this career for 10 years.

Later in life she found a passion for landscaping and creating custom jewelry and crafts.

Ms. Valdez was preceded in death by her mother, Refugia Torres; her grandmother, Juana Reyna; her step-grandfather, Pedro Reyna; a brother, Joey Torres; and a son, Christopher Valdez.

Survivors are her daughters, Kristela Pardo of Stamford, Rosie Ger ren and husband Jared of Rockdale, Jennifer Valdez of Br yan, Meicedes Valdez of Austin; a son, James Valdez and fiancé Madison Mendez of San Luis, Colorado; her siblings, Victoria Ann Valdez and husband Grant of Houston, Jesus Valdez Jr. and wife Tawana of Rockdale, Francisco Valdez of Roswell, New Mexico, Roxanne Birdsong, Johnny Valdez and wife Nereyda, and Rosie Marie Applin, all of Abilene; and her grandchildren, Dallas Gerren and Sabrina Valdez; also, numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ms. Valdez was caring to friends and strangers.

Her children were her heart and her grandchildren, the twinkle in her eye.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at San Gabriel Christian Church, 184 CR 421, Thorndale, TX 76577.

A balloon release and refreshments will be available after the service.
