Maxine Stewart, 87, of Rockdale died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, at her home in Rockdale.
Ser v ic e s a r e s cheduled for 10 a.m. Thursd ay, Nov. 17, at Phi llips & Lucke y F u ne r al Home in Rockdale. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.
Visitation will also be Thursday, from 9 a.m. until service time at 10.
Mrs. Stewart was born to Earl and Helen (Baker) Brice on Nov. 8, 1935, in Borger.
She graduated from Groesbeck High School.
On Aug. 9, 1952, she married Johnny Lee Stewart in Groesbeck. In 1954 they moved to Rockdale, where she raised her boys and then opened her own beauty shop, Maxine’s Hair Salon, a labor of love and friendships until she decided to retire.
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her parents, Earl in 1989 and Helen in 1999; her husband, Johnny on Nov. 12, 1997; four sisters, Earlene Collier, Betty Lou Brice, Peggy Sue Plowman and Geraldine Brice; and a brother, Weldon Brice.
Survivors are her sons, Ricky Stewart and wife Shirley, John Stewart and wife Cindy, Russell Stewart and wife Cruz, all of Rockdale, Danny Stewart and wife Donna of Edna; a sister, Diane Brice of Groesbeck; eight grandchildren, Kristi Hubnik and husband Johnny, Shawn Stewart and wife Gayle, John Stewart Jr. and wife Lisa, Michael Stewart and wife April, Johnny Stewart, Shanna Goodrich and husband Stephen, Randall Stewart, Debra Matocha and husband Johnathan; a sister-in-law, Ida Stewart of Groesbeck; and a brother-in-law, Leroy Stark of Bremond; also, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
