Shelton

Jerry Lee William Shelton Sr. was born on Christmas day in 1949 at his Grandmother’s home in Lexington. He was raised by his grandmother, Toni Shelton, and his father, Lee Roy.

Jerry departed this world on June 5, 2023, at the age of 73 at his daughter’s home in Tanglewood.

Jerry attended Lexington HS but had to drop out to help support his grandmother.

Jerry had a love for making other people feel important. He went out of his way to make others smile and laugh.

Jerry loved gardening, tending to his flowers, and making wooden toys for his children and later grandchildren.

Jerry made wooden toys to donate to Christmas round up and sat for numerous hours playing the role of Saint Nick at the schools and daycares in Rockdale.

Jerry met his wife, Dorothy, in Smithville, where he worked at the Ice House his uncle owned and operated. When the Ice House became obsolete, he worked as a salesman selling 7-Up drinks on a designated route.

Jerr y moved his family home to be closer to his grandmother a few years later.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; grandmother, Antonette Schuster Shelton; father, Lee Roy Shelton; sons-in-law, Timothy and Jerry Otte; and numerous other family members.

The family would like to thank Embrace Hospice Staff for their kindness and caring of our father. He meant the world to us.
