Nancy Ford Willis

Nancy Ford Willis, 84 of Rockdale, formerly of Pflugerville, died June 13, 2023.

A funeral service was held Monday, June 19, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Past or Steven Ammons officiating. Burial followed in Milano Cemetery.

Ms. Willis was born to Ben and Myrtle (Burgess) Ford on May 13, 1939, in Rockdale.

She took an early retirement from Electronic Data Systems Ms. Willis in Dallas in 1995. She was employed at their Austin facility where she worked in the financial department. She then worked for Black Millwork Co. in Austin until she retired again in 2001 and moved to Rockdale to help with the care of her parents.

Ms. Willis was an active member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and worked as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Place of Hope Pregnancy Center, Rockdale Christian Services, and Kindred (formerly Gentiva) Hospice Care of Temple.

She was a walker and on her daily walks she picked up litter from the streets. She was unable to understand why people had so little respect for God’s great creation.

Ms. Willis was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her former husband and friend, James Finch, in 2007; an infant son in 1957; her parents; brothers Roy Ford and Denson Ford; and an infant sister, Barbara Ford.

Survivors are a son, Alan Finch; a daughter, Traci Sholtis and husband Jon of Buda; and four grandchildren, Jeremy, Jonathan, Brandon, and Megan Sholtis; also, five great-grandchildren.
