MILAM COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT “NO BILLED” BY THE MILAM COUNTY GRAND JURY

The Milam County Grand Jury determined that Captain John Vargas from the Milam County Sheriff’s Department, Officer Stephen Wall from Rockdale Police Department, and Detective Justin Anastasiades and Lieutenant Antony Maskunas from Cameron Police Department, were justified in using deadly force in their self-defense in the May 11^th, 2023, shooting which resulted in the death of an individual who they were attempting to take into custody pursuant to an Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon warrant.

  Texas Ranger Sergeant Kenneth Shields investigated and testified regarding this matter.

    District Attorney, W.W. Torrey presented the case to the Grand Jury.
