Davenport
Doug Davenport was born June 28, 1955, to Less and Juanita Davenport.
He went to school at Lexington, where he played drums in the band and was on the football team. He was also a drummer in the Blinn College band. Mr. Davenport
In December 1976, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served in the First Cav Division.
Mr. Davenport loved music and played guitar and sang. He was a drummer for the Communities in Concert Band in Rockdale for a time.
He was employed for Alcoa in Rockdale and at Point Comfort until they closed.
Mr. Davenport was passionate about Texas history and portrayed David Crockett for several years at the re-enactment of the battle of the Alamo at San Antonio. He also participated in re-enactments of the Civil War battles at several locations.
He was a Boy Scout leader for Rockdale Troop 790.
Old western movies were his favorites.
Mr. Davenport was a member of Rockdale Masonic Lodge.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Florence; and his wife, Shirley; also, his brothers, Les and Jerry.
Sur vivors are his sons, Drew and wife Carissa, Bradley and wife Latethia, and Eric and wife Tina; stepchildren Michael Davenport and wife Brooke, Summer Davenport and husband Adilson Jorda; and five grandchildren.
Also, a sister, Peggy Masiakowski and husband David of Cedar Park; brothers Brian and wife Karen of Leander, Terry and wife Karen of San Antonio.
Family visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
