Fred G. Marquez Sr., 76, of Rockdale was born March 14, 1947, and on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, All Souls Day, he lef t this earth for his forever home in heaven.

Visitation wi th rosary was held Monday, Nov. 6, at Phillip & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale Mr. Marquez

with Father Pedro Castillo officiating. Graveside services were held later in the day at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Bryan.

Fred was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He married the love of his life, Molly, on Feb. 24, 1968. They made their home in Rockdale and started their family.

They became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fred was a devout Catholic, a Third Degree Knights of Columbus, an usher and was often seen volunteering at church events.

He loved to work in the yard. His plants were his pride and joy.

He was also a mechanic by trade and was known as the family Mr. Fix-It. His tools were his treasures.

Fred enjoyed all sports but especially football. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan and a proud Aggie grandpa.

He often said his greatest accomplishment was his children, grandchildren and great-children.

He enjoyed watching all of his babies at school, church and sporting events. He was the ever-present proud PaPa on the sidelines.

Fred was known for his witty personality, always having a smile on his face and being the peace maker of the family.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Sr. and Concha Marquez; brother Juan Marquez Jr.; sister Manuela Salas; and granddaughter Shelby Guthrie.

Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Molly Marquez; daughters Melissa Leslie (Carey Leslie), Roseanne Guthrie; son Fred Marquez Jr.; grandchildren Lindsey Mikulec (Cory), Allison Guthrie, Austin Guthrie, Elena Marquez, Kiera Marquez, Gabriel Marquez and Nevin Marquez; great-grandchildren Cooper Mikulec, Brooklyn Mikulec, Braylen Gibson, Levi Gibson; and his beloved dog, Honey.
