Calvin Braun
On Jan. 18, 2024, Calvin Braun of Rockdale, a loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 81.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 22, at St. James Lutheran Church in Brenham, followed by a graveside service at St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Lawrence Bade officiated.
Calvin was born Feb. 9, 1942, in Burton to Willie Herman and Margrete (Struck) Braun.
He attended Brenham High School and was a member of the National Honors Society.
Calvin served in the U.S. Army from 1960 through 1963.
He was married just shy of 33 years to the love of his life, Doris Elaine Jaehne. They were married on Feb. 11, 1969, in Brenham. These two were a prime example of true love and together they had two wonderful sons.
He worked at Alcoa and retired as an electrician after for 42 years of service. He was known by his coworkers as “Charlie Brown.”
Calvin was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem and was a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior.
Calvin spent many years serving his community in various capacities. He was a Boy Scout leader, Little League coach, and an active member of the Black Jack Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, watching his children and grandchildren participate in their many activities, and a good whiskey.
Survivors are his two sons, Elan Braun and wife Dedra of Thorndale, Kase Braun and wife Dora of Midland; grandchildren Kase William Braun Jr., Brantley Braun, Wyatt Braun and Lillian Braun and special friend Doris Koehne; also, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Elaine Braun; his parents, Willie and Margrete Braun; stepmother Minnie Braun; and sister Jewell Ellis-Eyler.
Pallbearers were Kevin Koehn, Don Jaehne, Elan Braun, Kase Braun, Don Jaehne Jr. and Allan Jaehne.
