More business interest in Rockdale after SLR announcement

At Monday night’s MDD board meeting, Economic Director Jim Gibson told the board that after SLR announces that they are building a 1,200-megawatt gas plant on their property in Lee County, he has received inquiries from 11 different businesses about possibly locating to Rockdale. He has meetings scheduled with the interested parties over the next few weeks.

Also, since Jason Barcak resigned his position on the MDD board last month after about five years to concentrate on his school board position, he was given a plaque of appreciation by Board President Nathan Bland.

The board heard from four people interested in filling the position who introduced themselves and told the board why they think they would be a good fit. The interested parties were Rebecca Luckey, Verjuana Foreman, Jim Morse and Daniel Willie.
