Rodney Michael Bartley, 71, passed away on Oct. 24, 2024, in Rockdale.
Born on Aug. 28, 1953, Rodney, affectionately known to many as Rod, was a devoted man of f aith who touched the lives of those around him with his kindness, honesty and unwavering integrity.
Rod graduated from Marshall High School and went on to lead a distinguished career in safety management.
He worked at Alcoa until its closure in 2009, thereafter serving as the vice president of safety at Mine Service in Rockdale until his retirement in 2019. Rod’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of his colleagues was deeply appreciated by all who worked with him.
A lifelong member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Rod’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily actions and relationships.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing video games and cherished moments spent with his family.
Rod is survived by his sons, Michael Bartley and wife Heather of La Grange, Paul Bartley and wife Jennifer of Spanaway, WA; his mother, Kathleen Bartley of Marshall; his brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Sandy Bartley of Marshall; his grandson, Darion Bartley and wife Jenni of Ennis; grandchildren Ethan, Trinity, Cullen, Mason, Aidan and Caitlin; and great-grandchildren Kaiden and Adalyn.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara Bartley; his father, T.D. “Pete” Bartley; and his grandson, Xavier Alexander.
A service celebrating Rod’s life will be held at Meadowbrook Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
His life was a testament to the power of living with faith and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
