Linda Davis Alexander, 77, of Rockdale passed away Dec. 26, 2024, at her home in Rockdale.

On March 14, 1947, in Tracy a beautiful bundle of joy was born to Edgar and Alice Davis, and they named their gift from God Linda Carol Davis. She was the 10th of 15 children: Ben, Clara, Alvin, Julia, Bessie, Henry, Mary, Waymon, Herman, Lafayette, Leonard, Beliva, and twins: Gene and Geneva (passed at birth).

Linda graduated from Aycock High School and completed business school in Michigan.

Linda married Ira Majors and birthed two precious daughters, Linda Denise Majors, and Carla Majors-Grayson.

Linda joined Rising Star Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized in the San Gabriel River.

Linda lived in Houston for over 45 years.

In 1995 she joined the Community of Faith Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop James Dixon II, where she was an active member for 29 years.

She faithfully served in several ministries. As a member of the Prayer Counselors Ministry, Linda prayed with individuals who made the decision to receive Christ as Lord and Savior. As a member of the Life Ministry, she ministered to the sick and shut in through in-person visits, encouraging words and prayer. Linda also made a kingdom impact through her service in the Greeters Ministry, as she welcomed church family and guests into service, with the love of Christ and her beautiful smile.

Linda worked in the energy industry for several large companies in the Houston area, for over 30 years.

After retiring, Linda became a foster mother taking in a total of over 50 children. She showered them with love, introduced them to Christ, and trained them up in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6).

When Linda’s health began to fail, she retired from foster care, sold her home in Houston and moved back to her hometown, Rockdale, to be closer to her sisters and brother.

She joined Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. R.L. Johnson and made an immediate impact through her t-shirt business.

Rising Star has been the Davis family church for over 100 years.

In Linda’s spare time she enjoyed being in her backyard in her garden, traveling, dancing, hosting Christmas parties and spending time with her family.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Carla Majors-Grayson (Harold); Crystal Davis (bonus daughter); grandchildren Andria Dunn, Crystal Dunn, Charles Davis (C.J.) and Jasmine Nash; great-grandchildren Carmen Green and Semaje Eldridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
