THE WOODL ANDS— George Wall Sr., 100, of The Woodlands passed away Dec. 23, 2024.

He was born May 22, 1924, in San Antonio.

He married Chris Har t of Calvert in 1950. They moved to Rockdale in 1953 and made it their home for 65 years. In 2018, they relocated to The Woodlands to be closer to their children.

After the bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, George was drafted into the U.S. Navy. Most of his service was in the Pacific Theater aboard the an aircraft carrier.

After his discharge from the militar y, he returned home to San Antonio. It is there that he met and married his wife of 74 years, Chris Hart.

They moved to Waco in 1951 so George could attend Baylor University on the GI Bill.

After graduating from Baylor with a degree in accounting, he accepted a job with a newly formed company in Rockdale called Aluminum Company of America. He would work for Alcoa for 20 years before accepting an accounting job with the State of Texas in Austin.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Chris Wall.

He is survived by his three children, George Jr. (Martha) of Devine, Keith (Missy) of Huntsville and Diane Galownia (Paul) of Conroe; also, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 17, with visitation starting at 11 a.m. and his funeral to follow at 12-noon. Burial will be in Calvert starting at 2 p.m.
