Anna Jean Haupt (Caudle)
Anna Jean Haupt (Caudle), 88, formerly of Rockdale, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at Rockdale Christian Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Interment will be at IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale.
Mrs. Haupt was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Ballinger to Theodore Porter and Avis Adalene Caudle of Ballinger.
She married Truman Haupt of Winters in 1947. The two were married for 57 years. They made homes in Ballinger, Long Beach, California and Rockdale.
Mrs. Haupt was a homemaker first who worked many jobs. Along with raising three children and being involved in many organizations, she was a long time employee of Rockdale Federal Credit Union, McVoy’s Grocery and finally as a greeter in the garden center at Walmart.
She and her husband were members of the Rockdale Country Club, where a love of golf was found by all of the Haupt family.
Mrs. Haupt enjoyed gardening which led to a membership of the Garden Club and also her job at Walmart.
She was most notably a servant of Christ. As a member of First Christian Church, along with singing in the choir, she spent most Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays at the church serving lunch to the needy residents of Rockdale. It was a tradition for her to bring her family with her to the Christmas Eve candlelight service each year.
Other hobbies Mrs. Haupt enjoyed were playing bridge, card games, sewing and general crafts. She was extremely social. Even as Alzheimer’s had taken many things from her, it never robbed her of the ability to make friends.
Mrs. Haupt was preceded in death by her husband Truman; her daughter, Brenda Burgett of Rockdale; and her daughter, Pam Young of Palmer.
Survivors are a son, Jerry Haupt of Mount Pleasant; a son-in-law, Doug Young of Palmer; her grandchildren, Cassi and Jeremy Robinson, Niki and Don Waddle, Corrie and Aaron Hurley, all of Palmer, Derek Young of Plano, Chris Haupt of Mount Pleasant, TJ and Jason Poon of Austin, Jeremy and Bradie Haupt of Hewitt, Daniel and Savanna Haupt of Georgetown; also, 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter, along with many nieces and nephews.
