Arledge

Walker Eugene “Gene” Arledge, 87, of Rockdale died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Legacy Nursing & Rehab Center in Cameron.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 6, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Weldon Fritz officiating.

Mr. Arledge was born in Rockdale on March 13, 1931, to Walker Edgar and Ruby Jane (Parker) Arledge.

He was a life-long Rock-dale resident and worked as a watermelon farmer and cattle rancher.

On Nov. 29, 1952, he married Boy Templeton married in Rockdale.

Mr. Arledge attended Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale.

He enjoyed the holidays, spending time with his family and working his watermelon and sprig fields.

Mr. Arledge was preceded in death by his father in March 1996; his mother in July 2005; and two sisters, Helen Jones in December 2013 and Jeanene Clark in October 2017.

Survivors are his wife, Boy Arledge of Rockdale; two sons, Terry and Selina Arledge, Tim and Dana Arledge, all of Rockdale; a daughter, Tammy and Dusty Leopold of Rockdale; a sister, Estelle Praesel of Rock-dale; seven grandchildren, Troy and Wendy Arledge, Tiffany and Michael Weed, Colt Pounders, Tyler Pounders, Tate Pounders, Taryn Arledge and Tyley Arledge; five great-grandchildren, Tyson Arledge, Tera Arledge, Mary Ann Lopez, Kingston Weed and Asher Weed; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Threadgill and husband Jack of Rockdale, and Jeanetta Smith of Hearne; also, numerous nieces and nephews and his special caregivers, Teresa Mireles, Debbie Silvey, Kayla Vences and DeAnna Hartley.
